Lost out on poetry
The joyous interplay of words and emotion
Amalgam of thoughts and considerations
Life crept in and rhyme walked out
Became less about dreams, more about assertion
The ever so accessible vent to life’s drama
Being pushed aside by never ending priorities
Phrases making way for unaddressed insecurities
The intoxicating wordplay, one of life’s necessities
Now meekly stared as responsibility took over
Pen and paper lay in dismal grief
Words looked up in disbelief
Every attempt to rewrite, futile
Every new sentence crumbly, fragile
A dangerous addiction, wordplay is
Every now and then, certainly missed
It’ll make you write how you lost poetry
Make you rediscover the beauty of symmetry
There you find, right within you
The love for poetry, lost and found.
